Seaplane flight over the Helsinki archipelago
-
A 15 to 20 minute seaplane flight over the islands, taking off from the water near Helsinki or Espoo. From above, the archipelago opens up as a mosaic of channels, coves and forested rocks, a view very few visitors ever get to see.
-
Flights are private and arranged with a private pilot on a cost-sharing basis, so this is not a commercial air service, just a rare way to see the islands from above. Send us a message with your preferred date and group size and we will check availability.
-
Flights depend on weather and pilot availability, so we confirm each one case by case. The flight combines well with any of our boat tours, for example a sunset cruise after landing.
Good to know
From the water the archipelago is a maze. From 300 metres up it becomes a map: hundreds of islands, the channels between them, and Alexandra somewhere below looking very small. The flight is 15 to 20 minutes in a Cessna 206 amphibian, taking off and landing on the same water we cruise, with room for up to four guests beside the pilot. This is not a commercial air service. Flights are arranged with a private pilot on a cost-sharing basis, which means they depend on weather, daylight and the pilot’s availability, and we confirm each one individually. Ask about it when you book a boat experience and we will see what can be arranged.
-
The flight is not sold as a service. Guests share the direct costs of the flight with the private pilot, as EASA rules allow for non-commercial flying. We give you the cost-share figure when we confirm the flight.
-
Up to four guests beside the pilot, subject to the aircraft’s weight limit. With a larger group we can fly in turns while the others wait on the boat.
-
No. A seaplane needs calm water, good visibility and daylight, and the pilot has to be available. We treat it as a possible highlight of a boat day, never as the reason to book, and you pay nothing if it cannot fly.
-
Mention it when you enquire about any boat experience, with your date and group size. We check the pilot’s availability and the forecast, and confirm a day or two before.
