Island picnic by boat, Helsinki & Espoo
-
Your journey begins in Helsinki's Eteläranta or Espoo's Haukilahti, where your skipper takes you on a scenic cruise through the islands before stopping at one of the archipelago's most beautiful picnic and barbecue spots. Bring your favourite food and drinks to enjoy on board or at the island's public barbecue area. Around the picnic stop we explore different parts of the archipelago, with the route adapted to the day's weather and your preferences.
-
Private use of the whole yacht, never shared. Professional skipper (that's me, Janne). Drinking water, soft drinks and coffee. Fuel for the standard sunset route. Life jackets and safety equipment for all guests. Toilet on board.
-
Food and alcoholic drinks. You are welcome to bring your own, there are glasses and cooler space aboard. Catering, champagne, flowers or a photographer can be arranged on request.
Good to know
The outer islands of Helsinki and Espoo have public recreational islands with grill spots, smooth rocks and small beaches, and most of them are only reachable by boat. On the island picnic we cruise out through the archipelago, land at one of these islands, and give you two or three hours to grill, swim and wander before the cruise home. Bring your own food and drinks, or ask us to arrange a picnic basket. Alexandra stays moored at the island with your skipper, so the deck, the cooler and the toilet are always at hand. Four to six hours all in, for up to six guests, and one of the most Finnish summer days there is.
-
Your skipper chooses on the day based on wind and how busy the islands are. Favourites are the recreational islands of the Espoo archipelago and the outer islands south of Helsinki, all with a public grill spot and a landing place for the boat.
-
Yes, the recreational islands have public barbecue spots, and we bring charcoal, grilling tools and a blanket. You bring the food, or we can arrange a picnic basket from a Helsinki restaurant.
-
Very much so. The islands have shallow beaches and rocks to explore, the boat ride is short and there are life jackets in children’s sizes on board. Many families combine the picnic with a swim stop and a bit of tubing.
-
From Eteläranta in central Helsinki or Haukilahti marina in Espoo. The picnic islands are typically 20 to 40 minutes from either marina.
